Why honest chocolate
goes well with honest insurance
Let's talk about chocolate. Why chocolate? Let me explain.
In 2006 a Dutch TV reporter named “Teun van de Keuken” visited cacao farms on the west coast of Africa in Ghana. What he sees there really strikes him because he sees children working in very poor conditions. It turns out that these children are working under slavery conditions. It amazes Teun and his team because international chocolate companies all agreed to ban child slavery. When he calls on these chocolate companies for their response they claim that they really want to change this, but that it is just not possible financially. It is part of the industry.
Teun decided to start his own chocolate company which he calls Tony Chocolonely, because Teuns chocolate doesn’t sound that cool. He produces his first 5000 chocolate bars, like the one I have in my hand now – paying a fair price to the farmers. With this Tony started his “lonely” battle for chocolate which is free of slave labor. Honest chocolate.
