Last January, Amsterdam and its surroundings were almost completely shut down by a big power
breakdown. Trains did not run, highway signs turned off and 360.000 households were left without electrical power. The breakdown also hit multiple hosting providers. Those are the moments of anxiety for users of SaaS software as well: will my application still run?
Around 85% of FRISS customers, both nationally and internationally, use the FRISS Platform as SaaS. Because three of the data centers FRISS uses are located in the Amsterdam area, FRISS monitored the breakdown closely. Hosting partner Solvinity proved to be a right choice: the FRISS Platform did not notice any downtime. The FRISS Score was delivered as usual and FRISS customers could continue their daily duties without any problems.
Christian van Leeuwen, CTO at FRISS says: “To promise an uptime of 99.8% or higher in an SLA is one thing. However, moments like these are the moments of truth. We are satisfied with being able to deliver a reliable service to each customer even during this power breakdown.”
