Automated Fraud System
I think when you have a very big amount of claim files every month, it is essential to have an automated fraud system.
Hi everyone, this is a new episode of FRISS lab. Today, we are in crowded Istanbul, and behind me is the headquarters of Turkish leading insurer Anadolu Sigorta. They managed to realize a 5 million euro saving on fraud, within only 12 months of time. We are here to find out how their fraud fighting culture enabled them to realize this.
Key Success Factors
First of all, I think when you have a very big amount of claim files each month, it’s essential to have an automated fraud system. I’s no more possible to manually detect fraud. The most critical factor is the support of the top management and the way they look at this subject. I have to tell that our top management supported us during the project and after the project. This was very important for the success.
When it comes to the project phase I think it’s important to know the importance of the data. We are using claims-databases, customer-databases and underwriting-databases of our company data, and we are supporting this with the industry-wide data.
Fraud Fighting Culture
I also think it’s also very critical to have a team dedicated to fraud. This team should be a talented team and have a background that fits the job.
In 2018 we are going to make more effort on improving this system. This includes some efforts about fine-tuning activities, adding some additional databases to the system and also adding new members to the team that will add to fraud detection.
